Hello, I am Antoinette Hoogstrate. In 2018 I moved back to my Dutch roots in Zeeland after living in the creative city of Brighton (UK) for more than 13 years.
I love anything to do with wood, photography, interior, design, styling, cute little scruffy animals (especially my jack-chi dog as I suffer from something called "cute aggression"), sandy beaches, nature and other cultures. After travelling the world for a few years, I ended up living in Brighton where I decided to do a 2 year part time Photography Art & Design course. I loved it and finally I found an outlet for my creativity and restlessness. I discovered I really like mixing photography with different materials and using it in installations and combining it with other art forms. After I finished my course in 2009 I experimented with printing on wood and started making photos on wood for friends and family, I then made a whole bunch of wood prints which I sold on creative markets in and around Brighton, which resulted in taking on commissions. I also love jewellery, so I started making necklaces, earrings and other jewellery. I combine making lovely things with my job working as a carer and activities coordinator in a care home for elderly people Please have a look HERE where you can see some of my commissioned work. |
